Cake Pop Sunshine and mid-week dinners

Nat here.  The ever talented A made these cake pops from scratch for her gorgeous son Lewis.  It was his second birthday yesterday. How ridiculously cute?!  My favourite is the cookie monster..

I know, talented hey?! That's not marzipan icing, no-no, it is white chocolate and not only that, flavoured white chocolate, so the cookie monster blue is peanut butter flavoured.  I know, A should open a shop!!

The husband and I together with T and L tried out Aquitaine at River Quay Southbank last week, on a school night - talk about outrageous!

Entree was lovely, although my steak tartare was really tartare, with a raw egg....I could appreciate the flavours but probably wouldn't ever need to try it again.  L had the french onion soup, husband had escargot and said they were delicious.  T had the scallops which looked lovely.

For mains I probably failed in my ordering, one of my favourite dishes of all time is the beetroot risotto at Ecco, they had it on the menu and I jumped at it.  It wasn't the same....L and husband had the steak and said it was great, T went bouillabaisse, which we originally though was beef and red wine...woops! It was nice all the same.

Dessert was creme brulee for me - absolutely delish but not warm inside, fairly cold.  L and T shared the pear tarte tartin as did the husband which I wouldn't know about as husband isn't a sharer when it comes to dessert...

Overall, it was nice food.  We were there on 2nd night so they are probably still perfecting things.  The service was nice when it was there but we had to pour our own wine.  We didn't hear the fish of the day specials and we were seated with wine menus and not food.  Maybe that says something about us not them?!

The husband and I caught the city cat home...Bris Vegas is lovely at night...

Happy Tuesday!
